Headline News (Part 2)...

One of my good friends from school sent me an article last night from ESPN.com on Joe Paterno, and after checking it out, I quickly noticed a couple of interesting items at the bottom of the page, as there was a list of ESPN's 'Top Headlines' and 'Most Sent Stories'…

ESPN’s 'Top Headline' was that Theo Epstein was stepping down as GM of the Red Sox, while another top story was Daunte Culpepper being out for the season…

However, under the Most Sent Stories category, the second headline immediately jumped out at me: “Arkansas freshman QB Dick to start vs. South Carolina”…

Maybe the reason why this stood out to me was because I’m still pretty immature at times, yet apparently I wasn’t the only one, as this headline stood out to many if such a minor announcement concerning a 2-5 team would be the second most sent article on ESPN.com…

Yet, the story doesn’t end there—and things would only get worse—as later in the evening I received a couple e-mails from another friend from school who said that the original headline on the article was “Dick to replace Johnson vs. Gamecocks”…

On a side note, I don’t know whether the subject lines of the first e-mail my buddy sent out on the topic (“Nutt starting Dick against Cocks”) or the second (“Nutt pulls Johnson to face Cocks with Dick”) were ever actual headlines, but they clearly make perfect sense…
