More Headline News from Sly Stallone...
Just two weeks after Sylvester Stallone announced that he intends to make a sixth Rocky film comes this news flash: Stallone will reprise his role as John Rambo in Rambo IV. According to the article, “the $50 million Rambo IV will recapture the rawness of [1982’s] First Blood.”
The script hasn’t been written yet, but the “story calls for the reclusive Vietnam veteran to return to his vigilante ways when a young girl is kidnapped.”
Hmmm….Haven’t we already seen this movie?
After reading this article, I immediately thought of Arnold Schwarzenegger's Commando (1985), prompting me to look it up on IMDB. Below is one of the three plot summaries from the movie’s IMDB page:
“Colonel Matrix has retired and is living with his 10 year old daughter in the country. His Daughter is kidnapped to assure that Matrix will kill the president of a Latin American country to allow the return of a dictator. Matrix escapes off a plane flight and has until it lands to rescue his daughter. Matrix must follow the clues he has and solve the mystery in time.”
So, it kinda sounds like a retired and reclusive Army veteran must return to his Special Forces ways when his daughter is kidnapped…
Boy, I can’t wait to see Rambo IV, as well as Rocky VI…If you enjoyed Commando, featuring a 38-year-old Ahnuld, then a 59-year-old Stallone should do wonders in Rambo IV. However, despite Stallone’s acting prowess, the one-liners in Commando will be hard to beat…
