Exhausted and Lazy...

I really don't know why I haven't posted anything in a while...If I had to guess, though, I'd probably start with being exhausted after my trip to Missouri, as I didn't recover (catch-up on sleep, rehydrate, etc.) until Wednesday or Thursday of last week...

I should also point out that I've been pretty lazy recently, at least when not working or at school...In fact, I haven't been spending much time checking-out meaningless websites, reading college football message boards, or even e-mailing, and I'm normally an 'e-mail whore'...

Maybe this is a good thing, though, as I'm really going to need to cut-down my time spent online once the summer rolls around and I start studying for the Texas Bar Exam in late July…I should be spending most of the summer studying up until then, so the less dependent I am on the internet, the better I expect my studying to go...

Anyway, hopefully I can post some more random drivel soon...

Feeling Good Again (Finally)...

YES, I'm finally feeling good again, after suffering through a bad cold for about 7 or 8 days...It started last Tuesday, only to get worse for a few days despite the many different concoctions of cold medicine I took from the get-go...

I had all sorts of issues: a bad cough (and the headaches that came with it), sinus problems (also known as 'stuffy head' according to the Nyquil commercials), horrible congestion, and other aches and pains, all of which combined made it hard to sleep...I basically had to sleep upright for about a week, while keeping a cup nearby in case I needed to hock (sp?) any loogies (sp?)...

After spending over 20 bones at the drug store on two separate occasions--after taking advice from multiple sources--something finally worked...I was beginning to question if Nyquil did anything except knock me out for a few hours at a time...At the same time, the Vicks Vapor Rub seemed to work ok, although I was always afraid of getting that 'goo' on my comforter and pillowcases, in addition to the fact that it left a nice 'film' behind the next day, even after taking a shower...

Then throw in some Sudafed, Wal-borne (Walgreens brand Airborne), Ricola, Halls, Dayquil, Walgreens Cold tablets (severe congestion), Cold-Eeze, as well as some good ol' Vitamin C for good measure...and YES, I'm finally feeling better...

Oh, and plus, I stayed out of smokey bars all weekend and avoided alchohol (hmm, maybe a few drinks would've helped, though)...

But YES, something finally worked...

(On a side note, I don't think yelling at the refs at the Rice vs. Memphis game this past Saturday helped at all, as I lost my voice that night, but these striped shirts were atrocious...At one point, I was making up new words as I yelled at them because I was having trouble letting them know what I thought of them in plain English...)

Anyway, I feel about 85% right now--actually, maybe closer to 90% or so--and it couldn't have come at a better time, as I'm heading out of town for the weekend on Thursday evening...

I'm going to Columbia, Missouri, home of one of my best friends from college, Mr. Pauly Aronson...Five of us will be meeting up there to catch-up, as well as fit in a 'charity' hold 'em tournament and maybe even a 'mini' bachelor party for our friend Rajul...You know, sort of a 'pre-bachelor-party-bachelor-party'...

Before I finished packing for my trip tonight, I thought it would be wise to check what sort of weather we should be expecting in Boone County, Missouri this weekend...According to weather.com, the highs/lows for the weekend are 38/23, 33/21, and 40/26, respectively, with the possibility of some occasional flurries on Saturday...

Just what the doctor ordered...

Hopefully I can post a report on the weekend at some point early next week...If I'm still feeling alright, of course...

Have a good weekend everyone, and Roll Owls...

This Just In...

Jerome Bettis is from Detroit, site of this weekend's Super Bowl...

Considering ABC failed to point out that AJ Hawk is dating Brady Quinn's sister during the network's coverage of the Fiesta Bowl, I thought I should let everyone know that Bettis will be playing in his hometown on Sunday, just in case ABC doesn't mention it during Sunday's telecast...

Gangsta Lean...

Last Saturday night, I met up with some guys from school to watch the TX-OU basketball game, and—upon my arrival—one of my friends immediately asked, “Dude, what’s up with your gangsta lean?”

I knew what he was referring to, but in case you’re confused, here’s how the Urban Dictionary defines "gangsta lean":

“A kind of walk swaying from side to side, leaning preferentially to one side, sometimes caused by or indicative of carrying a gat inside one's jacket or pants.”

And here’s the term used in a sentence: “Lysol's gangsta lean let the other homies know that he was packin'.”

Anyway, yes, I was walking a little funny, but I wasn’t packing a gat…No, the reason for my apparent gangsta lean was that I was already incredibly sore after playing football with some friends from school just a few hours earlier that day…

And before anyone asks, YES, I did stretch before heading out there, but apparently it wasn’t enough, as I’ve now found muscles that I never knew were there before…Actually, I think I pulled muscles that I never knew were there before…Sure, I think the fact that we were playing in the rain certainly didn’t help, but I never thought I would be in that much pain just a few minutes later...

Yes, I’ll readily admit that it had been quite a while since I’d done anything athletic or exercise-related—probably since playing basketball or softball last fall—but still, I was a bit surprised that I was immediately sore, within five minutes of leaving the field…

In fact, I stopped to get more Powerade on my way home, and it took me over a minute to get out of my car, as I actually had to pull on my shorts to lift one of my legs up…

Damn homey, it didn’t used to be this way…At least when I was younger the pain wouldn't start until the next day...Yes, I’m getting older now, but am I really this out of shape?

I’ve been so sore this week that I’ve taken the elevator whenever possible, even if I’m just going up one floor…Yet, considering hardly anybody ever takes the stairs at my school—and thus, the only time you can get on one of the elevators is from the first floor—there have been numerous occasions that I’ve had to take the stairs this week, and I’ve definitely been able to ‘feel the burn’…

Well, I don’t think I have much of an ego, so I can’t really consider this experience to be a shock to my ego…Yet, it has made me realize that I definitely need to exercise more, or at least make an attempt to get in better shape…

I haven’t been off to the greatest start this week, but that should change soon…
